Connect BlockWallet to a DApp

This guide will walk you through the process of connecting BlockWallet to a DApp (decentralized finance (DeFi) app, sometimes also dapp or dApp) ensuring a straightforward and secure experience. If you're new to web3 and dApps, don't worry; we've designed this guide to be easy to understand and follow, so you can confidently use BlockWallet to interact with the world of decentralized applications.

Access the DApp

Always make sure you're connecting to a legitimate and secure dApp. Double-check the website URL and look for the padlock icon next to the address bar to confirm the site has a valid SSL certificate.

  • With the same browser you use with BlockWallet navigate to the official website of the DApp you’d like to use.
  • Make sure you are connected to the correct network supported by the dApp. In necessary, switch the network in your BlockWallet account. However, BlockWallet will also inform you and ask for permission to switch networks during the connection process.
  • Locate the “Connect Wallet” button on the dApp’s website and click it. Typically, it can be found in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Select BlockWallet from the list of wallet providers. If BlockWallet is not an option, you can select “Browser Wallet”, “Injected wallet”, "Web 3" or any similar option. If no such option exists, you can usually connect by clicking the MetaMask option. If BlockWallet is your default wallet browser, you will connect using BlockWallet.
  • The DApp will then prompt you to authorize the connection, and BlockWallet will ask for your confirmation.
  • In the BlockWallet window or notification, review the requested permissions and choose the account(s) you want to connect with the DApp, then click Next.

Once connected, you can start interacting with the dApp using your BlockWallet account. You can now use the dApp's features. This may include depositing, withdrawing, trading, or staking tokens. Make sure you have enough funds in your wallet and are aware of any transaction fees before initiating transactions.

Security Tip: Be cautious when granting permissions to DApps. Only approve requests from trusted sources, and avoid sharing sensitive information or granting unnecessary permissions.

Connecting your BlockWallet to a DApp is a simple process when following this step-by-step guide. By being aware of security best practices and carefully reviewing the dApps and transactions you interact with, you can confidently explore the world of decentralized applications using BlockWallet.
